I built a new computer, but I?m having trouble with getting Vista to work with the graphics card and monitor.

Here?s my components:

EVGA 256-P2-N751-TR GeForce 8600GT 256MB 128-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 SLI Supported Video Card

Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 Conroe 2.66GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6750 - Retail

GIGABYTE GA-P35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

I?m trying to get them to work with Vista Home Premium OEM and an old ViewSonic E70 CRT monitor.

I get Vista working, but with apparently minimal graphics. There?s little red lines and dots in places, sometimes all over in a ghosting effect. The computer appears to recognize the graphics card, but Vista gives it a bottom #1 compatability score. I tried to upgrade drivers for the graphics card and monitor, but the problem continues. When I run the Vista performance test, the screen flashes once and then the performance test appears to freeze up.
Any suggestions please?

Hi to all! Recently i installed Vista x64 Ultimate and as i remember in start\all programs there are two icons of internet explorer (32 and 64 bit) and WMP icon. Now that icons are gone. Is that because Opera is my default browser and Gom and winamp are default media players? Of course i think that this is not problem. I remeber that i deleted that icons from quick lunch but deleting them from quick lunch doesn’t mean deleting tham from start menu, right? Wmp and IE can be started directly by typing wmplayer and iexplore in search but i want that icons back in start\all programs! Please help!

I have a really weird problem with mpeg videos, rundll32 and windows explorer. Whenever I navigate to a folder with MPEG videos inside I instantly recieve a message that reads ‘Windows Host Process (Rundll32) has stopped working’ and then in smaller print it reads ‘A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Please close the program.’ So I hit the close button at the bottom of the box and the box comes up again, and again at random intervals only while I’m in the folder with the mpeg video. Once I exit and close the dialog boxes they don’t come back until I am near a mpeg file again. Windows Explorer stays open and its not really an issue, but its REALLY annoying!

I have a top notch computer. Quad core, 4gigs of memory, Nvidia 256mb video. All latest drivers. When I leave the Vista Aero glass on, my system lags. Takes 5 seconds for windows to switch or to show something.

i have installed vista ultimate.when i install sound driver for xp it fgives me a lot of problems.some times sound doesnt come.

All our VPN users, OWA users, and Good link users are experiencing lock outs when they reach a maxium number of Mapi sessions and then are prevented from establishing another session. This is now becoming a weekly problem.

This has been an issue for sometime now and for a while we had been rebooting the server in order to reset their account. some believe this is a VPN issue, but most users are running different versions.

Has anyone else experienced this type of issue? Please help

I have administration rights, and this is a fresh install on a formatted partition of my harddrive. This is driving me insane. It was working prior but I had to reinstall to get the drivers for my network adapter to work.

I have tried reformatting TWICE and it’s still giving me trouble.

Here’s some examples:

Latest 8800 GTS drivers:

1) Publisher could not be verified… etc. etc: I click Run
2) UAC does its annoying stuff: I click Allow
3) NVIDIA Windows Vista x64 Display Drivers has stopped working.
4) Close the program
5) The application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000005) Click OK to terminate the application: Click OK
6) NVIDIA Windows Vista x64 Display Drivers has stopped working.
7) Close the program
Lower right corner states the program was closed. (No crap)

Firefox 2.0.0.7

1) Publisher could not be verified… etc. etc: I click Run

3) Firefox has stopped working.
4) The program might have not installed correctly

Sound Blaster X-Fi Drivers (Latest)

1) UAC does its annoying stuff: I click Allow
2) Self installation has stopped working

I also get a "80200053" error in Windows update… and I dont know what this means. I’ve never seen it and can’t find much of anything on it.

I just bought Vista Home Premium today and installed it. I have a Dell XPS system with appx 500gb across three different hdd’s. I installed Vista on HDD0. I keep game installs and various others on HDD1 and I have a linux distro on HDD2. After installing vista I cannoth find HDD1 and HDD2. Any of you who have delt with or run across this problem some help would be appriciated. Thanks!

I’ve got four desktop computers in a LAN. Three are running XPPro, one is running Vista Ultimate.

All of the XP machines can fully share with each other and the Vista pc can grab stuff from the XPs. But I just CANNOT get the Vista pc to share files with the others. The only folder that Vista will allow access to is the ‘Public’ folder, but the C drive, and all its other sub-folders, are off limits, ie, ‘Access Denied’.

This in spite of me turning off Vista’s UAC and setting its permissions as relaxed as possible.

I’m a tech, but no genius when it comes to difficult LAN problems like this.

Hi, I have strange problem. Today’s date is now missing from my notify area. I found this problem either in x86 and x64 version on home and work pc, so I think maybe some windows update can do this. I try search solution on google, but no luck. I even had doubts if there was a date information on my taskbar, but I found my old desktop screenshots and date was there. Thanks for any help.
