Windows Anytime Upgrade

I’ve have a a laptop from HP that came with a Windows Anytime Upgrade disc. I foolishly believed that the upgrade was free so I installed (I’m assuming, emphasis on blindly) Windows Vista Home Basic (?) blindly. I didn’t realize until after I tried to put in the product key on the bottom of the laptop and was told it was invalid. My question is how do I downgrade back to my Windows Vista Basic? Do I have to use a restore point or can I even use one?

hey i just installed vista x64 and every app i open hangs..it opens fine and then when i use the keyboard to type it says it hangs??? anyone else have this problem or ever heard of it?? thanx

“Test Mode” in all four corners?

I purchased a laptop with x64 ultimate and it shows "test mode" in the corners. I know that it is easier to install drivers in this mode, but are there any real disadvantages of staying in "test mode" besides the fact that it shows it in the corners?

cant install ipod drivers on vista

hi i just wonder if some 1 have solved this problem.
im trying too install the drivers on my ipod classic on my acer aspire 5100 series and i have vist. the message i get are cant find the driver in the ipod or on windows update. what can i do to fix it? i need to get some new music in to it… pliz help….

During mid summer i finally had the cash for a new computer so i got a friend to custom build one:

Nvidia E-GeForce 7900 GS KO video card
Asus M2A-VM motherboard
AMD Anthlon 64X2 4200+ cpu
500 gig hard drive
and 2 gigs of ram

Well i was wanting to run Vista but once i got the OS installed and all but the video card driver installed, i went to install the video card driver and it didn’t work. So i went to the Nvidia or evga site for an updated driver the tried a couple of those. Either it would say i’m not running the right type of vista or it says it can’t find my video card. Any ideas of what i can do??

Strange DVD-ROM Drive Error

I just installed Vista Business on my PC and I am dual booting Windows XP Pro and Fedora Core 7 (not seen by bootloader). My DVD-ROM Drive is a Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-212D and what happened after I installed vista was that vista couldn’t see it (nowhere to be found in the device manager) so I rebooted to XP and updated the firmware to the latest version got the message that it was updated and rebooted to Vista. Vista was then able to see it so I installed the latest drivers for it and now what happens is whenever i reboot my computer to the other OS the drive becomes undetected and not seen in the device manager. And for some reason I think it may be because there’s no disc in the drive ? (It seems to be detected whenever I boot with a disc in it and not without a disc). Any help or suggestions anyone could offer would be great thanks !

Soundcard disappeared!

I’ve just installed an upgrade, but the friend who did it for me had to completely wipe out the previous XP OS, so that all my documents and programs are now under windows.old

But the soundcard seems to have completely disappeared! There’s no "Sounds" section in Control Panel and I can’t find any mention of the soundcard I KNOW I had anywhere!

Any ideas?

RAM question - dual boot with XP

Im considering upgrading the amount of RAM in my system to 4 GB.
Which using Vista Ultimate x64 is fine.

But i’ve got dual boot with XP x86.

So just wondering if any on here has got 4GB RAM installed with a dual boot XP x86.
Do i need to use the 3GB switch in the boot.ini for XP, or will XP be ok with 4GB??

Outlook to Vista

My wife’s laptop hard drive failed. We were able to retrienve her files from the old hard drive. We successfully loaded her old email files on the new laptop but have not been able to locate and restore the address book. We found a wab file but have not been able to do anything with it.

She was running Outlook, not Outlook Express.

Vista + MicroSD card

Hello there.

Friday last week I bought a R4 device to my Nintendo DS. With it I get a USB Reader, which I use together with my Kingston 2GB MicroSD card. Directly when I got it I plugged it in to test it out, but the only thing that happend was a popup saying that I needed drivers.

I gave it to my brother who uses XP, and it worked like a charm just out of the box. I started to search around for anything close to a fix, and the only thing I found was this.

I implemented the fix, restarted, but nothing happends. It just does the same thing, which annoys me extremely much. I had this idea to use the card in my SE phone, before I realised that I can’t use the USB-cabe I got with my phone, since that doesn’t work either.

If there is no fix at all, the only thing I can do to transfer files from my computer to my SD card is to borrow another computer, or to install a different OS.
